Movement: The left indicates action when attacking. The right indicates action when severly wounded (near death). The number indicates a critter's movement speed in hexes. A speed of "F" means "Fly", for critters that can move and hit from anywhere. In general, groups will move more slowly than individuals, and many critters will run away faster than they charge. Types: chg = critter charges you and fights. std = critter stands still (like crossbow orcs). avd = critter avoids you and stays at a distance. run = critter runs away. int = critter is "intelligent" and mixes attacks. Spells: Spells used by magic users, elementals, and undeads. A "+" means that the critter casts without chanting (VERY DANGEROUS). Abbreviations: IC = Icestorm BL = Blind CO = Concussion DE = Death FW = Firewall FE = Fear FB = Fireball ST = Stun CW = Createweb MM = Magicmissile Group: Minimum and Maximum group size. HP: General indication of hit points as compared to other critters in the same area or category. VL, L, M, H, VH cover Very Low to Very High. Weapons: Weapons usually carried. Note that the weapon abbreviations mean different things in different places. A hammer on level 1 of the Kesmai dungeon means a regular +0 hammer, while a hammer on level 4 is probably a +2 steel throwing hammer. MA = Mace SH = Shield GS = Greatsword FL = Flail ST = Staff HB = Halberd AX = Axe SS = Shortsword LS = Longsword DA = Dagger RA = Rapier BH = Barehanded BI = Bite CL = Claws SB = Shortbow XB = Crossbow LB = Longbow HA = Hammer SP = Spear Special (extra dangerous) weapons: HBM = Huge Black Mace BFL = Black (+3) Flail HGS = Heavy Greatsword FAN = Fan NAG = Naganita HHB = Heavy Halberd SPH = Spiked Hammer MAU = Maul HAX = Huge Battle Axe GSP = Giant Spear BLB = Bamboo Longbow Armor: Armor or clothing worn. NO = None LE = Leather SS = Salamander scales CH = Chain RO = Robe DS = Drag or drake scales PL = Plate CL = Cloak LS = Lizard (wyvern) scales Exp: Experience points given, not including any additional points if the critter has killed a player or two. Notes: U = critter is one of the undead, will not leave a corpse, and may be hurt by the LIGHT spell. L = Critter stays in a Lair and probably has a treasure hoard. T = Critter carries a goodie or treasure item besides gold. $ = Critter usually carries gold V1 = Critter is visible only when you are in its hex. V2 = Critter is visible only from its hex or an adjacent hex. E = Eats corpses of victims. D = "Demon" flag is set for critter. The true meaning of this is not entirely understood by the author, but critters with this attribute seem to be immune to fire, STUN and FEAR. Also, "demon" critters seem to wear spectral armor, that vanishes when the critter is slain.
